I headed to Portland for the weekend mainly because of a bachelor party but also to partake in the Waterfront 5K again. Last year it was my first real effort at this distance and I ended up doing really well (2nd) and walked away with a new PR plus a stomach full of Flatbread Pizza. I didn't get suited up for my run until after dark but since most of the city has good lighting it didn't really matter. Knowing I had a race the next morning, plus a late night ahead of me, I just said screw it and ran the Back Cove knowing it would be a longer run. I was able to comfortably run 7:30 pace in the muggy weather and enjoyed having the pathway mostly to myself.
