This was my rest week so there's not much activity, just a couple runs and self-doubt about the state of my body. I've been having achy knees ever since the the Hut Traverse and Bear Brook Marathon. Nothing debilitation but a reminder that I'm not 100%. More likely, I'm just hyper-aware of my health heading into the Direttissima and that's all. Tuesday's fun run was a good indicator that my legs had bounced back so I took the rest of the week off so that I was as fresh as possible heading into Sunday AM. I took advantage of the downtime to prep and pack but didn't manage to sleep well. I'll include a lot of this week's activity in my Direttissima report that will be up at some point in the next week or two.
Monday: 6 miles - Started right before thunderstorms rolled in. By mile 2 I was engulfed in a torrential downpour then battled deer flies up Modock Hill. Keeping it nice and loose.
Tuesday: 5.1 miles - Whitaker Woods Fun Run (Week 7). No time for a warm up but I was well rested compared to previous weeks. The weather was great allowing me to run a great race (17:49). Had a good cool down and a nice boost to the confidence to run fast again.
Wednesday: 4.4 miles - Hurricane Point. Trails off Lead Mine road to Silver Lake. Nice and easy. Also hiked up Foss Mountain for some photos (and blueberries) with Squall and Hilary.
Sunday: Direttissima Day 1!
