Monday: Off. Opted to rest the tendonitis and go for a nice "recovery ride" instead. It turned out to be a big effort for an off day and I felt it.
Tuesday: 5.1 miles. Whitaker Woods week 4. Legs were trashed so I took it easy for the first mile and put in a harder effort chasing some guys for the next two miles. Wasn't expecting much, didn't get much. Strength training circuits after WW.
Wednesday: Hike! Mt Moriah but before that we did a little course work at Black for FNV4. One of those days where hiking felt way too hard. Made a point to make the week a "recovery week" AND a chance to heal up.
Thursday: Off. It was raining and decided to just lay low.
Friday: 4.8. FNV x 2. Ran the course for a preview then did some video work. Put in a hard bike effort around Madison for some PRs. If I'm going to skimp on the running, might as well make up for it with some riding.
Saturday: Off. Trying to rest again since I'll be racing tomorrow..
Sunday: 8 miles. Mt Cranmore Hill Climb. First true humid race effort in a while. Ran well, mind didn't want to race too hard though as much as I tried. Spent the race chasing Tim Livingston from the start and he held on strong to win without much of a battle. I was hoping there would be a few more guys up around us to push. 40s slower than last year, wish I could have put up more of a fight mentally.
Total: 15 miles // 4k' + 7.2k' (hiking / biking).
Sneaky not a very down week after all. Still got in my vert and put more quality time in on the bike. Did a bunch of PT work on my ankle and with the break from running it should start calming down. Having dead legs and adding the bear notch bike, an uptempo 5k, strength training with weight, and a hike up and over Mt Moriah, I was feeling beat up by Thursday. While I would love to just be crushing miles on my feet, adapting to what your body needs is part of the plan. Hoping to pick things back up next week a little as I settle into a few steady weeks before the big dance.
