Training June 4 - June 10
Monday: Off. Set FNV Week 2 course in the rain.
Tuesday: 8 miles, easy run before heading to VT. Added 8 x 30 strides at the end.
Wednesday: 7.4 miles. Run with Aliza Lapierre at Cochran's ski area.
Thursday: 6.3 miles. Marcy Dam.
Friday: AM Hike with Sarah Keyes and PM Friday Night Vertical Week 2.
Saturday: 14 miles. Market Square Day 10k. I signed up for this race hot off the Inferno. I sort of regretted it going in but just used it as a training race to get in some fast / hard work that I otherwise wouldn't get. Race very well and held a high effort with disciplined pacing giving my current road fitness. Never got passed and continually worked my way up the field for 12th place. It's always hard to be happy with a race where you don't PR but considering how I don't have any specific training, it's reassuring to know there's still some speed in there with all the ultra training. I ran the course backwards to get a change of close from my car and hang out with some friends after the race.
Sunday: 30 miles! Proud of this one. I haven't run this long outside of a race. Breaking into new training territory is exciting. Legs were trashed from the race so it was a good opportunity to push myself. Took it easy and managed to feel solid for the run but had issues keeping up on my hydration - tough to do without aid stations but ran with 2L and filled up 2x. It was a hot one.
Total: 69 Miles // 10k' + 2.3k' (hiking).
Best week of work in this block. Was able to get in a race effort stacked with my longest run to date. I also was able to spend a few days in VT / NY working on a documentary following Aliza Lapierre & Sarah Keyes around as they prepare for UTMB. The next week I'm planning on backing off a little before continuing the build up.
