Monday: 2.4 miles. Supposed to be an off day but wanted to shake out the legs after the big weekend. Rode for an hour on the bike beforehand. Need to be riding more!
Tuesday: 4.7 miles. Whitaker Woods Week 1 (18:38). That hurt and started off the series with a hard effort but a fairly slow time. Legs are still cooked. It will be interesting to see if I can get anywhere near my PR this summer (17:45).
Wednesday: Off. Not really but hiked the Jewel Trail to Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail. We were taking running photos so that forced a lot of breaks (much needed for Squall). Beautiful day up there.
Thursday: 8.1 miles. Downs road with a fast last mile. Legs are really feeling it.
Friday: 16 miles. Needed to get some sort of long run in. Felt horrible for most of this run but just ground it out. Probably not good for my ongoing nagging leg injury.
Saturday: 10.6 miles. Camden Hills State Park. Over in Maine for a wedding so we got some miles in over in the park. Fun crew to run with.
Sunday: 4.8 miles. Taking it easy in Bradbury Park. First time running the west side. The lower leg injury is likely posterior tibial tendonitis from late April. Yikes. Going to take a few days to really work in this one.
Total: 47 miles // 7.6k' + 4.6k' (hiking / biking).
Mixed feelings about this week's training. Should have backed off more but really wanted to keep pushing the limits and ended up irritating my tendonitis. It's the classic - take two days off to let the legs recover, now I'm potentially looking at a long-term issue that could really affect my training / racing. Tendonitis is a tough one because it can go dormant and pop up when you least expect it. The good thing is that I'm working on some specific PT exercises and hopefully with some strengthening and other measures, can rest and recover it this week and see if a long run is in the cards.
